Burgundy Wine Dinner with Nicolas Dewe | 16th April

Speaker of the Night Nicolas Dewe

Born in the Ardennes in 1969, between Reims and Belgium, Nicolas was nonetheless born into wine. Indeed, his parents and grandparents were distributors and bottlers of wine, including the great châteaux of Bordeaux as it was done at the time. Going back further, the ancestors were brewers and glassmakers…

He hesitated between commerce and water & forests and studied engineering in agriculture where he met his wife, Agnès, 8th generation of Domaine du Meix Foulot, in Mercurey. Both are increasingly interested in wines, in trade fairs, in running the wine club at their school, etc. Agnès will begin her training as an oenologist. Just after their wedding, they went to the United States for four years. Nicolas then worked for the Marie Brizard group and was in charge of Canada as well as wine import for the group.

Agnès had always told her parents that she would be ready to take over the family estate if none of her brothers and sisters wanted it. A promise kept; they returned to Bourgogne in 1996, Agnès as winemaker and Nicolas at Mommessin / Clos de Tart, export manager. 4 years later, he joined Maison Louis Jadot. After a few tours around the world and 11 years later, he left this beautiful house to take over the management of Bourgogne de Vigne en Verre.

Bourgogne de Vigne en Verre is a unique structure in Bourgogne, a sort of shared commercial department, bringing together 35 estates from Chablis to Brouilly of which 13 estates are co-shareholders, including the Meix Foulot estate. Agnès is therefore one of Nicolas’s bosses but she depends on him because he ensures the sales of the domain…

An overall balanced relationship… “We have three boys, Thibault, 30 years old, Cosme 28 and Camille 25. Thibault and Camille also work in wine, Cosme is getting married in June” life goes on!!
