About The Winery

The Avignonesi is a historic winery in region of Montepulciano, the first and oldest red wine DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controlata e Garantita) in Italy. It was founded in 1974 by the Avignonesi family and was acquired by Virgine Saverys in 2009, who has expanded the estate significantly. It now comprises 175 hectares of vineyards and has a new, state-of-the-art winemaking facility.

Avignonesi is well known for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, made from the Sangiovese variety, and its Vin Santo Avignonesi’s wines. Thanks to their organic and biodynamic conversion with no chemical herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers, the wines are improving year after year, with ever broader aromas and flavours that are very faithful to the territory. Today the company is one of the most prominent wine producers in Tuscany.
